Ethan Fox Headed to JDRF’s 2011 Children’s Congress
The Piedmont Triad Chapter’s own Ethan Fox is one of only 150 children and teens (out of 1,200 applicants) who will be traveling to Washington, DC, this summer to remind Congress and the President of the need to find better treatments and a cure for type 1.
Ethan and the other kids—ages 4 to 17, representing all 50 states and the District of Columbia—will converge on our nation’s capital to talk with lawmakers about the challenges of living with type 1 during JDRF’s Children’s Congress 2011, which will take place June 20 – 22.
The event—held every other year since 1999—will be led by JDRF’s International Chairman Mary Tyler Moore. It will include Congressional visits by the young delegates and a Senate hearing during which Ms. Moore, select delegates, researchers, and community leaders will testify about the need for continued federal funding for type 1 research.
