Bank Day Information:

We will collect money from 9:30am-4:30pm on Thursday, September 26th at  BB&T at the Friendly Center Branch (3318 W. Friendly Ave.). Follow the Signs when you enter the building. You will also be able to pick up T-Shirts for walkers who have raised $100 or more.  Sponsors can turn in their banner for Walk Day.

Please bring your TEAM T-SHIRT to enter in the T-Shirt Contest. You will get it back after the contest on Saturday morning.

Walk Day Information:

Check-In Information: Begins at 8 am (you do not need to go to check in if you have turned in all your money)

If you have money to turn in or if you need to pick up a T-shirt for a walker who has raised $100 or more, head to the Check-in area to turn in your Walker Collection Envelopes. While additional envelopes will be available at check-in, having the following information completed on the Walker Collection Envelope speeds up the check-in process:

  • Your Team Name and Team Captain’s name
  • Amount in envelope

* Please remember, each walker should turn in their own envelope. Walkers are asked NOT to combine funds into one envelope.

  • If you have not registered online, your contact information is needed.  Keep in mind, home address is preferred in order to expedite the delivery of JDRF post-Walk information and prizes.

Also, don’t forget:

  • Checks should be made out to JDRF
  • If you have a large amount of coins to turn in on Walk Day, we ask you convert to cash or check
  • If you raise $100, you will receive a JDRF Walk T-shirt

To see where food, team photos, kids’ fun and check-in are located download and print this map of Center City Park.  Note that Davie Street will be closed to traffic, which will allow safe access to public restrooms in the Cultural Arts Center and to the new Large Team Photo Location.

We will have a long route and a short route this year. Please download the walk route to see before hand. The short route is 2 miles and the long a 5K.

There are three public parking decks near Center City Park and Parking is Free on the weekends. We recommend parking in either the the Bellmeade Deck, Church St, or Davie. Follow this link details on parking downtown.  All parking decks will have the guard-arm raised throughout our event for faster entry and exit.  Please use the Greene Street entrance of the Bellemeade Deck to avoid traffic congestion along Elm Street.  Only the Greene Street Exit will be open following the walk. DAVIE STREET BEHIND THE PARK WILL BE CLOSED!

After the walk

The deadline for turning in Walk money to JDRF for award and pledge prize eligibility is four weeks post-Walk. Walker Collection Envelopes to send in with post-Walk funds will be available at the Check-In Area.

Donor Receipts

Donors who have written a check to JDRF for $250+ will receive a letter of receipt from JDRF. If you need a receipt for a donation less than $250 you will need to write “Please Send Receipt” in the memo of the check or in a note attached to the money.

If you choose to receive a JDRF Prize catalog, you should expect to receive it approximately 10 weeks post walk. Catalogs are not automatically sent to eligible walkers. You must indicate your prize choice on your Walker Collection Envelope or in your Participant Center, and redeem your gift catalog. Ordering info will be sent with each gift catalog. Click here to browse the Prize Catalog options.  The deadline for selecting your prize level is four weeks post-Walk.

Walk Awards Invitations to the Awards Banquet will be sent to: all team captains, all walkers raising $1,000 or more, volunteers and sponsors.  Individuals raising over $1,000 will receive a JDRF Golden Sneaker Award.  Teams raising over $1,500 will receive a Walk Award.  Other fun awards and contests will also be presented!

Continue to fundraise after the Walk! Funds received until four weeks post-Walk Day will be credited to your final individual and team totals.

Remember, if someone can’t make it on Walk day encourage them to sign up as a Virtual Walker!  They can walk anywhere, anytime, whatever works for them and still raise money for JDRF AND be eligible for walk prizes!
