Annual Meeting-May 31st

Join us for the Annual Meeting, Thursday, May 31^st at the Proximity Hotel at 7pm to hear JDRF International Board Member Red Maxwell. Red Maxwell and his wife have been JDRF advocates since July 1997, two weeks after the diagnosis of their 18 month-old daughter, Cassie. He has served as a member of the IT Committee, Chair of the Online Communications Working Group and founded JUVENATION, JDRF’s highly successful social network for Type-1 diabetes. Since 2004, Red has written about parenting a child with diabetes on his widely read blog, daddybetes.com. Red will talk about what is new with Juvenation and how getting involved with the JDRF social media will help us get closer to a cure.

JDRF participating in The Human Race on March 31

JDRF—along with more than 100 other local nonprofits— will be taking part in the 2012 Human Race, a 5K Walk/Run sponsored by the Volunteer Center of Greensboro. The Human Race is scheduled for Saturday morning, March 31, at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex.

Be sure to designate JDRF as your charity when you register.

Since the Volunteer Center (not each participating nonprofit) is organizing The Human Race, a small percentage of all monies raised by individual walkers will go to Volunteer Center, with the majority of the funds raised by each walker going to the designated nonprofits.

The Human Race is more than a walk—it’s a great party, with live music, free food, and prizes greeting walkers at the end of the course.

2012 Hope Gala raised $825,000, honored all children with type 1

JDRF’s Piedmont Triad Chapter raised $825,000 at its 2012 Hope Gala, which was at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro on February 25, 2012. The event honored all children with type 1 diabetes; these children were very much a part of the evening’s festivities.

“Thanks to an incredible outpouring of support from sponsors, guests, and others, we were able to raise $825,000 to help JDRF find a cure for diabetes and its complications,” said Mike Conrad, Executive Director of JDRF’s Piedmont Triad Chapter.
