When were you diagnosed with type 1?

I was diagnosed on October 14, 2005, right before my fifth birthday.

How has your life changed—what do you do differently—since your diagnosis?

I have to think about what I’m eating— all the time.

What’s the best advice you ever received about living with type 1?

Check your blood sugar often!

What advice or tips do you share with other people living with type 1 and their families?

Have juice boxes and/or Skittles with you at all times!

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

I can’t wait for the day that doctors find a cure!
