I was diagnosed when I was 14 years old (in 8th grade)
Dehydration, weight loss, fatigue, constant cramps
I have to give myself at least four insulin injections per day, or before each time I eat. Before I give myself these shots, I have to check my blood sugar. I always have to be aware of these numbers out in the real world, especially in college. I have always been self-conscious of my diabetes, and try to live my life as normally as possible.
“You can do anything you want to do in life without the interference of diabetes.”
I would advise people not to let diabetes define them. Although some may be of the mind-set that it’s embarrassing, there is nothing wrong with living with diabetes. It only makes you stronger and provides a great sense of responsibility throughout life.
